University cheerleading has entered a new era. Cheerleading today is much more than pretty girls jumping up and down. It requires women and men of strength, endurance, and power who embody school pride, and promote school spirit. Cheerleaders are athletes, motivators, and leaders with a sense of discipline that carries over into life. The Freed-Hardeman University Cheer Squad reflects the modern cheerleader in every sense of the word.
FHU’s cheerleading squad helps to support and inspire winning athletic teams. To prepare for our season, cheerleaders begin conditioning and practice late in the summer. FHU cheerleaders cheer for both men's and women's basketball.
The amazing Sports Athletic Complex provides the university's athletic teams including the FHU Cheer Squad the benefit of some of the finest facilities in NAIA athletics.
Committed to providing an environment for the growth and development of the whole person, the university recognizes that athletic endeavors and academic pursuits should complement each other. Students who participate in cheerleading are expected to be full-time students working on an academic degree. Thus, it is the goal of the university that the student-athlete experience success in academics as well as in athletics. Cheerleaders major in many different subjects from art, business, education, criminal justice, music, psychology, and physical education, and are involved in many other campus activities.
If the FHU spirit could be personified, the cheerleaders would definitely be one of the groups exemplifying that spirit. The purpose of Freed-Hardeman University cheerleading is to promote spirit by leading cheers and displaying positive leadership on and off the court. The cheerleaders are also ambassadors for the FHU students, faculty, alumni and friends.
We would love to hear from you! Thanks for supporting Freed-Hardeman University!
