FHU Soccer Players Earn Academic Awards

Henderson, Tenn. – The TranSouth Athletic Conference has released its scholar athlete team, and fourteen Lion and Lady Lion soccer players received the honor. To qualify, a student must be a sophomore or above in academic standing and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

FHU Soccer Players Earn Academic Awards

Lady Lions End Rebuilding Year with Loss at Trevecca
Nashville, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions ended the 2007 soccer season on Saturday evening when they traveled to Trevecca Nazarene University, falling 6-0 to the Lady Trojans. The loss gave the Lady Lions a final record of 4-12 overall, and 1-7 in the TranSouth Athletic Conference, finishing just ahead of Crichton College.

Lady Lions Narrowly Miss Upset over No. 21 Bethel College
Henderson, Tenn. - In perhaps one of their best outings of the 2007 season, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion soccer team fell just short of pulling off an upset over Bethel College on senior night at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.

Lady Lions Fall in Tough Conference Match Up
Henderson, Tenn. – Looking for another conference win, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion soccer team played host to Lambuth University on Tuesday night at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex. Despite a strong effort from the young Lady Lions, they fell by a final score of 2-0.

Fields' Three Goals Lift Lady Lions to Victory
Memphis, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions traveled to Memphis on Saturday for a TranSouth Conference match with Crichton College. The Lady Lions controlled the run of play throughout the game and were able to capitalize for a 3-0 victory.

Cumberland Defeats Lady Lions 4-1
Lebanon, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions traveled to Lebanon, Tenn. on Tuesday afternoon to take on Cumberland University. The Lady Lions came out slow and never recovered dropping the TranSouth conference match by the score of 4-1.

Lady Hornets Too Much for Young Lady Lions
Henderson, Tenn. - Looking for their first victory since the September 14th overtime win over Campbellsville, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion soccer team took the field against the visiting Lady Hornets from Harris-Stowe State University. But after a long, hard fought game, the Lady Hornets proved too much for FHU, defeating them 3-0 at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.

Lady Pipers Slide Past FHU Lady Lions
Henderson, Tenn. - Looking for another win, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion soccer team hosted the Lyon College Lady Pipers on Saturday afternoon. Although they held the visiting Lady Pipers to just two goals, the Lady Lions could not find much offensive production and dropped the match 0-2.

Lions and Lady Lions Shutout by Martin Methodist
Henderson, Tenn. - On Tuesday, September 18th, the Freed-Hardeman University Lion and Lady Lion soccer teams hosted Martin Methodist College at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex. The Redhawks and Lady Redhawks would prove to be too much for FHU as the visitors shut out both the men and women in a TranSouth Conference match up.

Lady Lions Win Overtime Thriller
Henderson, Tenn. – On Friday, September 14, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion soccer team came from behind in the second half to tie the game and defeated visiting Campbellsville University in the first extra period by the score of 2-1.

Harris Records Twelve Saves in Lady Lion Loss to Delta State
Henderson, Tenn. - Freshman goalkeeper Tiffany Harris racked up twelve saves on Thursday night, but it would not be enough as the FHU Lady Lions fell 4-1 to Delta State University.

Lady Lion Soccer Wins Home Opener
Henderson, Tenn. - The 2007 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion soccer team is off to a 1-0 start after defeating Brewton Parker College 1-0 in front of an energized crowd of Lady Lion supporters.

Lion and Lady Lion Soccer to Open Season on Friday

Henderson, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University women’s soccer team has announced their sixth addition to the 2007 recruiting class, according to FHU head coach Jason Elliott. Shannon Hargis, a forward from Hendersonville, Tenn., has agreed to play her collegiate soccer for the Lady Lions beginning in the fall.

LADY LION SOCCER ADDS TEXAN TO 2007 ROSTER
Henderson, Tenn. – FHU head soccer coach Jason Elliott has announced the signing of Lindsay Riggs to a soccer scholarship beginning this fall. Riggs is a midfielder or goalkeeper from Van Alstyne, Texas and will enroll as a freshman in August.

Louisville, Kentucky -- On Friday afternoon, the Lady Lions traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to face Spalding University. The home team managed to capitalize on an FHU misplay in the back to earn the 1-0 victory.

DELTA STATE DEFEATS LADY LIONS
Cleveland, Miss.—The Freed-Hardeman University women’s soccer team traveled to Cleveland, Mississippi to take on Delta State University and lost by the score of 4-1. The loss moves the Lady Lions record to 1-1-0 on the year.

LADY LIONS WIN SEASON OPENER
Henderson, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University women’s soccer team opened their 2006 season with a win over Bryan College 2-1. Saturday’s match was the first match under the lights in school history, as the first phase of the Josh Riley Soccer Complex has been completed. Apparently, the Lady Lions enjoyed the later start and opened the season in the win column.

The TranSouth Athletic Conference has named 18 Freed-Hardeman University soccer players as scholar athletes for the 2005 season. In order to receive this honor, a student athlete must be at least a sophomore or above in classification and maintain a 3.0 Cumulative GPA or higher.
