Verification Process
Approximately 30% of all applicants of financial aid are chosen for a process called verification. For students and parents who have been selected for verification, the Department of Education requires that Freed-Hardeman University collects the required documentation to verify the information you reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
We are required to collect a signed copy of the parent's and the student's tax return and their W2 form(s). In addition to the tax returns, we also must collect the Verification Worksheet and an additional Untaxed Income Worksheet. Dependent students will need to complete the Dependent Verification Worksheet. Independent students will need to complete the Independent Verification Worksheet.
The Independent/Dependent Verification forms and the Untaxed Income form are in PDF format below. You will need Adobe Acrobat to open and print the files.
