The Admissions Process
Step 1
The first step is to complete the application. It takes only a few minutes to apply online. Remember, at FHU, it's FREE to apply. Applying allows you to receive more personal attention from your admissions counselor, earlier consideration for scholarships and special mailings containing information of specific interest to you.
Step 2
Freed-Hardeman University accepts the ACT or SAT for scholarship and acceptance purposes. When you take these tests, please request that your scores be sent to FHU by completing the FHU school code, or you may submit an official high school transcript that includes your test scores. The residual ACT is offered on our campus by appointment in the Center for Academic Services. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-fhu-fhu1 and check out the testing policies on-line.

Step 3
After you have submitted your application, request that your high school guidance counselor send an official, three-year high school transcript for acceptance. If your GPA improves during your senior year, you may send a revised official transcript at any time. Your final, four-year transcript must be submitted at the end of your senior year.
Step 4
A housing fee of $100 is required and is non-refundable after April 1st. Dorm requests and assignments are prioritized by the date your housing deposit is received. Housing assignments for new students are made in June prior to your August registration. Those seeking off-campus housing should contact the Office of Student Services to determine eligibility.
Step 5
Every student is a candidate for some type of financial aid. The application is FREE and may be completed beginning in January of the student's senior year of high school. For faster results, return your FAFSA to the FHU Office of Financial Aid or complete on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FHU school code for the FAFSA is 003492.
Step 6
Proof of immunizations, showing that the student has had 2 MMR's, must be submitted. A copy of a shot record will be sufficient. Students who graduate from an accreditted Tennessee high school will not need to submit their immunization records.
Step 7
A campus visit is the only way to truly understand the unique experience of FHU. To get the most out of your visit, contact the Office of Admissions, as early as possible to schedule an appointment. Special admissions events, planned throughout the year, give a peek at the distinctive characteristics of FHU. Register on-line for a campus visit today.
Step 8
Fall enrolling students are encouraged to attend one of four dates to preselect classes. This ensures your place in the class is reserved. You may only schedule an appointment to attend after your admissions file is complete. A complete file includes your application, final four-year high school transcript, ACT scores and your health form. Attending preselection does not exclude you from attending fall registration. Check out the on-line summer registration information.
Step 9
If you have attended other colleges or universities, you must provide official transcripts for the courses taken. If you have fewer than 30 hours of transfer credit, you must also submit a final, high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores. Then complete steps four and following.
Step 10
Interface is the final step before becoming an FHU student. Small-group activities are scheduled during your first four days on campus. Mixers, Karaoke Night, games, devotionals, canoeing and FHU Night at a Diamond Jaxx baseball game are all part of the week's activities.
Step 11
Arrive on campus, August 18, 2007 to move into your dorm. Dorms will open at 1:00pm and there will be faculty, staff and students to help you move into your room.
