Residence Hall Check List

Roommate Realities

When you move in arrange the room together so that it feels like "home" to both of you. Ask these questions:     1). Do you both feel a sense of ownership over this new space? 2). Is neatness important to one or both of you? 3). Is the room comforatable for both of you?

Sharing everything may not be the healthiest approach. Discuss the following: 1) will you both have equal access to the computer, TV, microwave, etc. no matter who brought them? 2). Is it okay to borrow one anothers stuff? 3). what is okay to share and what should stay put?

Who knew the alarm clock would be the basis of so many roommate conflicts? Here are some thoughts to consider: 1). Will both of you use the same clock or have your own? 2). What about the snooze button? 3). What happens if someone keep sleeping through the alarm?

Talk about the following so that guests don't come between you: 1). If people come by while one roomie is studying, how will you handle it? 2). Do each of you get enough "alone time" in the room? 3). Are overnight guests acceptable? 4). If one of you is gone for the weekend, is it okay for a guest to use your bed?
