CONSERVATION NATON 2009: "Solutions to Pollution" REGISTRATION Opens December 1.

This poster/art competition has been created by the Chickasaw-Shiloh RC&D Council (an affiliate of the Natural Resources Conservation Service) and is hosted by Freed-Hardeman University. The purpose of this event is to strengthen students' awareness of conservation issues and to encourage the development of future scientists. The competition is for 7th and 8th graders. Two categories for competition – a. Science Poster b. Recyclables as Art

Science Poster Topic: "Solutions to Pollution"
1. Poster size - no larger than 24" x 36"
2. Written summary must accompany poster - 2-3 pages explaining/supporting your idea
3. Posters will be judged on originality of idea, visual presentation, oral presentation to judges (2-3 minutes), and written summary. Other visual aids encouraged.
4. Other criteria include: clarity of science concept presented, relationship of topic to Solutions to Pollution theme, quality of work/thoroughness of research and explanations.
5. DO NOT PUT NAME or SCHOOL NAME anywhere on your poster. (You will be given an entry number when you arrive.)
Recyclables as Art:
1. No hazardous or combustible materials
2. Must be free standing
3. No larger than 5' x 6' x 6'
4. Must have at least 75% recycled materials; include a list of materials used in the project.
5. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME or your SCHOOL NAME anywhere on your project. (You will be given an entry number when you arrive.)
6. For design - the only limit is your imagination - extra points for using theme!
7. MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN
- Trophies will be awarded to the top 5 places in each category.
- Cash prizes of $100, $60, and $40 will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category.
