Tryouts will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 at 9:30 am at the Sports Center.
What to wear:
- Athletic shoes with white socks
- NO logo t-shirts, except FHU. This means no high school, all-star cheer team, camp, etc. logo shirts! Your choice of comfortable SOLID color shorts or pants.
- Wearing FHU colors would be great, but not required.
- Remember the importance of a clean and fresh overall “look”! No jewelry, not too much make-up, hair out of face, SMILE, etc.
MUST HAVE:
- Dedication
- Charismatic personality
- Confidence
- Crowd Leading skills
- FUN!!!!!!
Required SKILLS:
- Jumps: toe-touch, herky, and front herdler. All 3 required.
- Cheer: 1 cheer of your choice & cheer taught at try out clinic.
- Dance: 1 thirty to sixty second dance routine with the music you provide.
- Stunts: ability to show skill and knowledge in safe stunting and your ability to execute the stunt. (Stunt groups will be assigned and given practice time at the clinic prior to try-outs.)
- Tumbling: BHS** required.
- Standing back tuck, and tumbling pass of your design during your entrance (optional).
- ** This is a new requirement. You do not have to tumble to try out. However, when cheering at the collegiate level, you should be able to tumble and it is part of your score. If you can not tumble, you need to be exceptionally good at something else (examples: flying, crowd leading, etc.) NO Back Spots Allowed!
Other Skills:
Strong entrance showing your ability to tumble, lead a crowd, confidence, poise, voice control, facial expression, etc.
Tryouts are not open to public. No exceptions.
Tryouts may be video taped for the coaches viewing.
You will tryout in front of a panel of judges and the coach. The coach has the final say on who makes the team.
Please know that if you make the team you will be expected to be on time to every practice, game, or event they we are to be a part of.
You will maintain a 2.0 GPA.
As an FHU cheerleader you will follow all school rules and be positive role models on campus and off.
There will be a clinic held the week before. Please listen to chapel announcements for more information.
