Nursing Advisory Council

DEPARTMENT OF NURSING ADVISORY COUNCIL
CONSTITUTION

 

ARTICLE I:            Name

The name of this organization shall be the Freed-Hardeman University Department of Nursing Advisory Council.

 

ARTICLE II:          Purpose

The purpose of the Advisory Council is to assist the chair of the Department of Nursing by making recommendations for improvements, contacting potential supporters for the department and serving as a vehicle for publicizing the department among health professionals in Tennessee.

 

ARTICLE III:         Membership

Membership will consist of individuals recommended by the chair of the Department of Nursing, the dean, chairpersons, and faculty within the School of Sciences and Mathematics, the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the President.  The President will make the final decision on all invitations for membership.

 

ARTICLE IV:         Privileges

Members of the Advisory Council shall be entitled to attend all meetings, make recommendations, and received publications and reports of activities of the Department of Nursing.

 

ARTICLE V:          Meetings

            There will be one regular meeting each year of the Advisory Council.

 

ARTICLE VI:         By-Laws

By-laws that are adopted by the Department of Nursing Advisory Council must be approved by the president of the university.

 

ARTICLE VII:        Amendments

This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of members present at a duly constituted meeting of the Advisory Council.  Any amendment must be given final approval by the president of the university and notification of approval given to the entire membership of the Advisory Council by letter.

 

ARTICLE VIII:       Standing Committees

As the Advisory Council grows in members, standing committees may be formed as needed

 

ARTICLE IX:          Term of Committee Member

The term of a Department of Nursing Advisory Council member will be five years.  If the Council member is playing a very active role on the Council, the member may be asked to remain on the Council for one additional term.
