Registration Policies


Advising
   The Director of the MBA Program will provide help with academic or advising questions as assist you in analyzing concerns which may trouble you or impede your progress through the MBA program. Each student is referred to the Director of the MBA Program for assistance in planning his/her program, in registration, and in reviewing his/her progress. The Director should approve each semester's schedule and any changes made. Students may be referred to the Vice-President for Academics for additional assistance. The student is, however, personally responsible for meeting catalog requirements, following handbook policies, and seeking written approval of any exceptions.

Registration Procedures
   Once a student has been accepted into the MBA program, he/she will register for their first course by contacting Sandra Foster in the School of Business at (731) 989-6091 or slfoster@fhu.edu. For the remainder of the program a student can register by using IQ Web or contacting Dr. DeBerry at (731) 989-6659 or tdeberry@fhu.edu. Students must follow the registration schedule of their particular program and register prior to the beginning of a class or within the drop/add period.

   Once a student has been enrolled in the MBA program and wishes to register for courses that begin in either the October or March terms, it is recommended that he/she register for those courses during the August and January registration periods. This will make the registration process much easier for both the student and FHU. If the students schedule needs to be changed before these courses begin, the course can be droppped by contacting the Registrar's Office.

Registration deadline
   Effective January 2009, a registration deadline will be in effect for all MBA classes. In each term, students must register for classes a minimum of one week prior to the scheduled start date of classes. This will insure time for the students to obtain required books and materials and for the course instructor to adjust the course's learning activities to the size of the class.

Late registration
   Students who enroll full-time after the scheduled registration date are charged a fee of $40. Requests to enroll in a class after the first week the class has met must be approved by the Director of the MBA program and professor. The student is responsible for work missed and/or any make-up work assigned.

Good Academic Standing
   Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to remain in good academic standing. No grade below C will be counted towards degree requirements. Grades below C may result in academic suspension or termination at the discretion of the Graduate Council.

Academic Probation and Suspension
   Should a student's cumulative GPA fall below 3.0, he/she will be placed on academic probation. A student on academic probation will not be allowed to enroll for more than 9 credit hours during any term the probation applies.

   The student on probation is required to achieve a 3.0 cumulative GPA the following semester enrolled. Failure to do so will result in suspension from the program. A student on suspension must reapply for admission into the MBA program.

   A course in which a student has earned a grade of C or below may be repeated. The last grade earned will be the grade for the course.

Change of Schedule
   You may change your schedule during a period specified in the catalog calendar by adding or dropping a course or courses. Changes require permission of the Director of the MBA Program and the instructors involved. Tuition will be prorated according to the schedule of charges in this catalog under "Financial Information:Tuition."

Withdrawal from a Course or from the University
   To withdraw from a course after the edn of the drop/add period, students should use the drop/add form located at www.fhu.edu/onlinecampus. To withdraw from the university, a student should contact the Director of the MBA program and follow his instructions.

Graduation Requirements
   A cumulative GPA of 3.0 on all graduate credits with no grade lower than a "C" may be applied toward graduation requirements. Specific course requirements which must be met are listed under the MBA program. Participation in commencement ceremonies is required unless an exemption is granted by the Vice-President for Academics.

Application for Degree
   Application for graduation should be made within two weeks of the first day of classes of the last semester of work.The application form can be obtained at www.fhu.edu/themba. A list of other requirements for graduation will be attached to the graduation form.

Transcripts
   An official photocopy transcript of the student's pernament academic record of work attempted and grades and credit earned will be issued on request of the student. The first is free; a fee of $5 is charged for each subsequent request. Direct transcript requests should be submitted to the Registrar. Transcripts will not be issued for students or graduates whose account is delinquent.
