The Department of Behavioral Sciences and Family Studies seeks to assist students in understanding human behavior, child development, family relations and societal and cultural changes. In addition, the department seeks to prepare students with intellectual and vocational skills to function in a variety of professional service occupations.

The department offers baccalaureate majors in Child and Family Studies, Criminial Justice, Psychology, and Social Work. Teaching licensure in Early Childhood Education (PreK-4) is also available in Child and Family Studies.

The department offers baccalaureate minors in Child Studies, Family Studies, Nutrition and Health, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology.

The department also offers a Masters of Science in Counseling.
